Copas de Bienvenido — Welcoming Drinks

Today marked my first day of school at Estudio Sampere. Fortunately, what I thought was going to be a day consisting of a three-and-a-half hour Spanish course turned out to be a quick placement exam, followed by an optional evening mixer — also known as a copa de bienvenido. I think I’m going to like this easy come, easy go atmosphere!

That’s my roomie, Casie, and our new brother Ricardo, who was nice enough to show us the way to school.

Buying tickets for the metro, it’s by far the fastest way to get around Madrid.

Incoming! These puppies are fast.

Right across from Estudio Sampere is the Retiro Park. It’s huge, beautiful, and full of life. You could think of it as Madrid’s version of Central Park. So Ricardo gave us a brief tour on the way to school. I can’t wait to spend a whole day there exploring.

These trees remind me of Italy.

Entrance to our school, don’t mind the spec of dust on my lens.

A group of us decided to go to another restaurant afterwards. This place is great if you’re looking for a waitress that decides to not charge you for half of the bill.

After walking all day (and getting a little lost on our way back home with no guide), Casie and I were delighted to find another delicious home cooked dinner. We feasted on roasted chicken, fresh bread, and baked zucchini with tomatoes and onions. Oh, and for dessert, a most lovely presented flan!

Chicken, it’s what’s for dinner.

I’ll take both, please
